The Global Groove series has been around for 5 years, and it is being celebrated with a yearlong tour that includes stops at Chrome in Tampa, the Boom Boom Room in Laguna Beach, the Skeleton Ball in Dallas, the Volcano Party in Honolulu, and more for a total of over 35 destinations.
This official CD features the tour's headliner, DJ DeMarko! in his first mix CD. New York's DeMarko! is a rising star who was a former runway model who credits superstar DJ Manny Lehman as his mentor. After stints in Montreal and Los Angeles, he has settled into New York's club scene with a residency at G Lounge and regular performances at Armani Exchange in Soho. DeMarko! will return to Montreal to spin at this year's Black & Blue Festival.
DeMarko! describes his thunderous set as a non-stop blend of anthems. You can certainly feel the energy in this mix that includes chart hits from Narcotic Thrust, Kings of Tomorrow, and Raw Deal, plus Oba' Frank Lord's (of Dark Beat fame) gritty tribalish version of Depeche Mode's classic "Personal Jesus" that melds in parts of Depeche Mode's "Flexible" which should get any fan of that band excited. Other featured remakes include Michael G's cover of George Michael's comeback hit "Amazing" that sounds 'amazingly' like George himself, plus covers of current hits "Naughty Girl" and the Queer Eye theme song, "All Things", remixed by popular circuit DJ David Knapp.
